Stress of School

School is stressful for every student. There is always a pressure of getting a good GPA so that you can get into your desired major. To keep your GPA up you have to have good study skills, and a really good work ethic. One thing that I lacked when I first started college was study skills. In high school I never really had to study for good grades on test but in college it is automatic that you study to get good grades. I think college has helped me grow as a better student but it has made my stress levels very high.
In the next couple weeks, I will find out if I got into my major or not. I am extremely nervous because I am a person that always has doubts about things when dealing with such a big decision in my life. I just hope my experiences and grades will show the ability I have to be a good student in my field. It is stressful knowing that if I do not get into my major, that I have wanted since I was little, that I will have to choose something I am not as aspired by.
Taking 19 credit hours this quarter is rough, on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays I feel like I am at school forever. My first class starts at 8:00 a.m. and I do not get to go home until 3:50 p.m. I just hope I can keep my sanity and not go crazy knowing I’m at school all day long. It is stressful knowing that with 19 credit hours means a lot of homework and a lot of reading that I have got to do, just to make sure I get a good grade in the class.

Tabby your entry is so true, but i think you have to stress about more stuff then i do. I agree with feeling like you've been at school forever on monday, wednesday, and friday. I also agree with the study skills. I didn't have very good study habits in high school but i got good grades but for my first test as a college student I failed because I didn't study hard enough. Being in college i know now that I need to have better study skills, and I am working on that. I feel the stress of working 25 hours a week and having 15 credit hours, I have no time for myself it feels like. Your entry is true to everyday life, and I think many people can relate to stress that college brings

I dont know how you are taking 19 credit hours. I think it is hard enough to take 15. I learned the hard way also, that studying is a must in college. I was able to get away with not studying in high school and being able to pass. I tried doing that in my biology class first quarter and got a really bad grade in it. I now think that i have to re take the class which sucks, i would have rather studied the first time and got the class done and over with!

I agree with everything you said in your entry! Balacing everything at school, work and friends is deffently hard. I know I dont have good study skills as I should because I never had to try in high school that much either. I deffently can relate to all the stress that college brings. I am also taking 19 credit hours and it is hard to juggle it all but it sounds like you will be able to do it all with your experience in dealing with stress. I hope that you get into the major you want because then thats one less thing you have to worry about! I deffently think that college brings on lot more stress than we expect.

I understand completely what your going through. I take only 15 credit hours but I have 2 part-time jobs. My stress level is really high. I also didn't have to study at all in high school, and I thought that it was a BIG wake-up call when I first got to college.

When I first started out, I was at the main campus, but I had some complications with scholarships so I had to return home. What field are you going into? I know how pressuring it is to get good grades and maintain a great GPA, because I am a Pre-Pharmacy major, so my field is super competitive. I wish you the best of luck and hopefully you get into your desired major. Just remember even thought it's major stress constantly, it'll be TOTALLY worth it in the end. :)

I agree with your blog. College is very much different from high school. And very very stressful. At least this experience helped you in a positive way. You gained the skills of studying. As long as you get in that habit then you should be fine. It is stressful to work really hard for your major and not be sure if you get in the program. I know I would be crushed if, I was not able to get into the pre-med program. Sometimes it's just not enough to settle for what you get. If your not interested then you won't really work hard or work to your best ability. This blog really tells how stressful school is. And you get into detail how it effects you.

I think it's true too. I took 18 credit hours my first quarter and it's a pain! School stresses me out just thinking about it and what I want to do with my life. Almost every student can relate to this and will agree with you. By the way, why do they make so many classes only available Monday, Wednesday and Friday? It's killing me with work and time to do things.

Very nice and thorough. If I can offer a bit of advice, I'd say that you are holding your own in class thus far, for the stressing isn't for nothing. :) 5/5
